I had my AVR in August due to a biscuspid valve. A secondary problem was an enlarged left ventricle (a narrowed valve meant extra pumping action to try to get the right amount of blood through which led to the heart putting on a bit of muscle). The surgery went great and at what should have been my discharge appointment in October the surgeon was happy the new valve is working fine. And recovery & rehab has been a breeze. However, at the measurement immediately post-surgery the EF had gone up from 30% to a disappointing 35%. Plus the enlargement was still there - they are hoping several months of medication will help that. The surgeon didn't want to discharge me until i had a second Echo and booked a review for next week... but this review has now been cancelled because i have not yet had the Echo. I have been told the timescale for a follow-up Echo is likely to be several months because it is the furthest thing possible from Urgent or Emergency. Has anyone any experience of waiting for a follow-up Echo and how long am I looking at?

Hello
It was good when I read your recovery and everything went well but now you find yourself in this position which I can imagine is frustrating to say the least
I have not been through this experience but I would want things sorted quick after been through all that to see what is happening and why having said that waiting times can be long depending which does not help us but if something is an emergency I am sure they would have you in quicker to do it
The only other thing you could do is make sure that they know you want to go on their cancelation list it sometimes helps then if there is a cancellation you might get it done sooner
Good luck x

Thank you for the advice & support, I appreciate it. I feel fine but now I just need to know that I am indeed fine.
