can anyone advise an insurance company that will insure me for an undiagnosed condition. I have angina and started to become breathlessness on exertion.
I am awaiting to scans to establish the cause of breathlessness.
Thank you.

That's a tough call. I'm not aware of any insurance company that will offer cover for a patient awaiting test results.
And to be fair, the insurance company obviously needs to know what the condition is before they can calculate the premiums.
However, it's one of the many catch-22's that face heart patients, prudence says we should seek medical help if there's any change in our condition. However if we do then there's the inevitable tests (and today that usually means especially long waits) and while that's all progressing at a snail's pace we're effectively uninsurable.
In reality it adds pressure to postpone seeking medical advice until after a holiday is over, for fear of invalidating travel insurance, and that cannot be a good thing.
Hi Dottydicky
I was previously having some issues with getting travel insurance myself. I was able to speak to a medical underwriter for travel insurance and he basically said that only a very limited number of companies would cover pre-existing conditions and often, it is those which are considered as having less risky conditions that would be covered as well.
I would personally wait for a diagnosis, providing it is before you fly, and then give your travel insurance provider your confirmed diagnosis. Based on this, they should be able to tell you whether they can, or cannot provide cover for you. If you’re still undiagnosed before you go away, it is very unlikely that you’ll be covered for it. I hope this makes sense.
Wishing you the best of luck with the diagnosis and your travel cover!

it is a difficult situation. You need to bear in mind that whilst you are waiting for a diagnosis, you are not covered for any of your other declared pre-existing conditions - so if you are breathless, but declare a skin condition, have a flare up that needs treatment whilst on holiday, that would not be covered. You would however be covered if you broke your leg, and if you have a policy with cancellation cover, for something like bereavement of a close loved one. I guess it depends on where you are going, how long for, and how likely you are to need treatment whilst you are away. You would then have to weigh up the risks

Insurers won't cover anything undiagnosed as they are unable to determine the risk that requires cover. I have been down this route before with travel insurance and life insurance. To give some context, my cardiologist asked for an echo just because it is a while since I had one. In the interim, he has sent a letter to me and my GP confirming a diagnosis and it states that my condition is not life threatening. No life insurer will touch me while I am on echo waiting list. I'm 40 with no other pre-existing conditions.
