Hi all I did write something last week but don’t know were it went. Anyway I’ve been on my medical records and it seems I’ve had this cardiovascular disease since 2015 and never been told. Just asking for some information on how you cope and what an I likely to expect. Thank you

Hi Bonny64

Can't believe you haven't been told something like that did they say what specific problem or what there plan was?

Must be difficult to comprehend even more when you find out like that.

Have you been refered to a cardiologist atleast? Sorry bout all the questions and hope your able to get some more information from your GP.

Hi thanks for your reply no nothing. I went to doctor’s as I had bad chest infection and he did an ecg I got back to his room he said your heart is ok but there is a low chance you could have a heart attack. I went home thought about it and decided to look at my medical records and that’s when I found out. I phoned in and they got him to phone me and tried to make me less anxious but at the end of the day it seems that at my age 71 my numbers will only go up. I don’t have a clue what will or can happen. Doctors at our surgery are always changing you rarely get to see the same one twice. I also have copd and since lockdown only spoken to nurse on phone I’m beginning to think they don’t really give a dam. Sorry this is so long and thanks again

Insist on seeing your G P immediately to find out whether it's a mistake- they do happen and if not you need full details and meed to find out why you weren't told or given any treatment. I would be phoning my GP Instantly.

Hi thanks for asking. It isn’t a mistake as on my records it says 13 march 2015 13%. 16 Dec 2018 18.6%. 7 Feb 2019. 16.4% and 20 Jan 2023. 15.4% And all this has never been mentioned. Waiting for call back from Doctor at the moment but can’t ask as I’m asking about something else and you can only talk about one thing at a time. Feeling very deflated with the whole system today.

OH you must ask regardless. This is shocking for you to find out like that. Last year I discovered on my records kidney failure level something or other. I rang immediately. It turned out to be just one of those things that automatically records after a blood test. I did have another test and it was fine but he shock was awful. Just say "If you won't discuss it now I need an urgent face to face appointment to get to the bottom of this"

Hi thanks for your message and concerns. I don’t know if you know much about all this but since I was last on here I’ve looked at medical records again and this goes back to 2008 perhaps I’ve been reading it wrong as they all say a % risk within next ten years and there’s nothing to say it’s heart or blood flow related. My cholesterol level was up and been on statins for some time. So for now I’m not going to worry about it as it’s just causing me anxiety and that’s not good. So I’m going to make changes to the amount of fats. salt. and sugar I have. Hope you are feeling good today.

You're lucky you can see your records; mine are not available online unless I fill in a special form to request access. I didn't know that until I Rang them yesterday for my blood results. i would still ask for an explanation as I think you should have been given advice even if it was a small concern.

Hi will do next time. Seeing medical records can be a good thing but like I had a chest infection went to doctors he verified it as chest infection but looking at records reason for appointment COPD. Outcome cardiovascular and ecg report. But blood tests are listed showing what they tested for and figures as far as I remember. If you want to see yours you should be able to get form from reception she will explain. Hope you tests were ok.

Yes I know you have to be careful with records; often described with unexpected titles like my supposed kidney failure which was just a result of some tablets and was fine next time. I mainly wanted my thyroid and cholesterol results; receptionist couldn't understand why and I would need an appointment with a nurse just to get them which I said was a total waste of the nurse's time so the receptionist had to catch a nurse when she came in, get her to look them up then the receptionist rang me back with them- s till not understanding why I wanted to know. Well I have a lot of symptoms of low thyroid and GP refused to do the T3 and T4 test and the nurse was blocked from even seeing the t est to order it. It was exactly on normal. Last time my cholesterol had gone up so I wanted to know if my diet had improved it. IT had. Down from 5.6 to 4 but she still didn't give me a breakdown. Stupid system. My son can read every consultant's letter and see all blood results on the NHS App but ours won't put them on. I have to waste their time phoning and getting copies posted to me.

Does your surgery not have web page? You are legally allowed access to test results and you don’t have to give them a reason why. I find that the people on front desk are very busy these days. I had a phone call yesterday it rang 3 rings I didn’t even have chance to open phone case when it stopped. Later after talking to doctor I see a message on records saying patient didn’t answer phone call.

When I clicked on reply under your message I got "Bad Gateway" ??????? Anyway yes they have a website but still no access to records from that. It's not he receptionists; they are lovely. Yesterdays even rang me back. Yes I've had that happen when they didn't give me time to even find my phone.
