I had gallbladder problems 2 years ago, ended up in hospital with sepsis for a week. All ok, however, I contacted arterial fibrillation. Put on rivaroxaban and 5mg of bisoprolol. Back in August 22 I was rushed in with breathing difficulties. My dose of bisoprolol was increased to 6.5mg and all seems ok again. Just before Christmas I had a heart check up and they decided I should have cardioversion but because of my condition after all this time it would not be wise to follow up with ablation surgery. Cardioversion has a reputation of only working for a short time on its own and is usually done shortly after diagnosis! My question is, because it’s been 2 years and I’m a very unfit 63 year old would this procedure be safe or can I simply stay on meds for the rest of my life? I look after my wife (carer) 24/7, have been fine for the past 2years save for a little tired now and then. She is in the last stages of MSA and I therefore can’t leave her for more than a few minutes on her own. What should I do? The GP can’t advise other than speak to cardio and can’t get hold of them till my procedure on the 13th. Please help me.
