It is hard to believe rhat it is over 47 years since Elvis died. and two years since his daughters Lisa died (12/01/23). Elvis like most of us here was a Heartie, and with his mother and father both also dying of heart attacks I wonder if the medics missed a trick with his daughter as they did with me (for new members I raised concerns to my GP that my father, his brother and their father had all died prematurely of heart attacks, and was basically dismissed and underwent a quadruple bypass a few tears later.
Anyway on to Elvis who would have been 90 on the 8th there is his '68 Comeback Special in BBC2 tonight at 8:20. Enjoy!

I always think Cliff (I sometimes refer to him as CirClip to wind a certain person up {not my sister}) was much more MOR (Middle Of the Road) not unlike the Carpenters. Elvis could do Rock better and at the other end Ballards better. Whilst I much preferred Elvis my sister preferred Cliff but then I preferred the Stone s whilst she preferred thew Beatles!
The Beatles were pretty much much just another group so I don't understand why they shot ahead of groups like the Kinks and the Animals. Then just when it looked as if they maturing into something special John and Paul's inflated egos split them up. . Paul's group Wings were awful.
watched that last night brilliant, in those days they didn’t know so much my mother and six siblings all died with heart attacks I always knew I would get it, had two in lock down and had two stents, i am 80 this year on good diet and go line dancing and exercise class I get good days and bad days but this site helps so much. Happy healthy new year to you all.
Good to hear you are doing OK. When I went to my GP with my concerns about my family history he basically dismissed my concerns. I think they spend too long collecting stats and ignore what is in front of their eyes. After all most people know how they feel (and if something is wrong) and their family history.
Hi Michael - I watched the comeback special last night and it was just as good as I remembered it from the first time. He really was a special entertainer - one of a kind - and it truly is hard to believe that it's 47 years since he 'left the building' for that last time. Carol
I will always remember where I was when I heard of Elvis's death. It was announced on Radio Luxembourg when I was having a bath that evening. The BBC called it "unconfirmed reports". I will also always remember the date as it was exactly 3 years and 3 days before my father died of a heart attack in front of me. If anyone is trying to picture me I am slightly taller (I have shrunk) than he was in the special but about the same build (and pretty grey 😥).
Good morning Michael JH. there was Elvis programmes on over Christmas as well on Sky Arts, And the Elvis tribute weekend s. Are still very popular and well supported around the country and the world. There's a weekend on in Birmingham now. And next month at Weston super mare. Brian
