Round Two! Should I be seeking advice?

So I’ve been feeling unwell since Christmas Eve with that which cannot be named (tested today and came up dark positive line straight away)!

I missed my appointment at the end of November and then due to children’s illness I just didn’t get a chance to rebook.

My symptoms started with a headache and sniffles but the last few days my chest has been heavy, I’m more out of breath and feeling very faint and weak when moving from one room to another.

I had this illness in January last year but I was up to date with what I needed at that time and it started in the same way but was more like a heavy cold.

Has anyone else had it recently and found that they’ve been rough with it? I just thought by day 6 I might be starting to feel better and if anything I feel like I might be getting a chest infection.

Hello :-)

Sorry you are feeling unwell and as if this is never going to get better , I was like it for 3 weeks and wondered why it was taking so long but eventually it improved and your will to :-)

One thing though if you think you could have a chest infection before the Doctors shut tomorrow get on that phone and get some advice , we know our own bodies the best

My Son has not had the dreaded c but he has had a bad infection it has been going on over a week today I did not mess about when he said his chest was tight ( he is 28 by the way lol ) but I phoned the Doctors and he has antibiotics so please phone if you think you could have developed an infection and let us know how you get on :-) x

Thank you, as always that’s sound advice and I think you’re right, I’ll give the GP a tinkle in the morning.

Best wishes

I phoned my GP practice this morning but the receptionist blocked me from speaking to a dr and said to call 111 if I start to feel worse so that’s what I’ll do if I need it 🙂

Thank you for your kindness and advice.

Best wishes

Hello :-)

I think that is shocking telling you to phone 111 if you get any worse

My Doctors only did that to me once and I told them straight 111 is there when you are shut not open !!!

I hope you don't get any worse hopefully you will slowly turn a corner over the next few days but if you do please phone them and keep us updated how you are :-) x

Yes, I had it in the summer. It was awful but I was able to stay in bed and indoors. It went away after a week but it has taken some time for me to get back to full fitness.

Thank you for your reply, I’m sorry to hear that it’s taken you a while to get back to full fitness.

I think the lack of rest could be part of the reason I can’t seem to shift it.

Yes, that is probably the reason. Flu type viruses require rest. I seem to recall, many years ago, being warned that the flu virus multiplies when you exercise your muscles. Hopefully you can take to your bed for a couple of days.

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so rough. I’ve not had it so far, but my husband succumbed twice, once Christmas 21 and again in August this year. He was far worse the second time and actually tested + for 14 days. It took him 3 months to recover but is fine now. The important thing is to rest as much as possible, but I know that is a challenge if you have young children. I hope you feel better soon x

Thank you for your reply.

Yes this seems to be my experience as well. I guess I’ll just have to try and ride it out, my partner isn’t the most sympathetic 😅 and my son seems to think that me being ill is a golden ticket for using me as a bouncy castle/punch bag 🙈😂

If it gets worse I’ll have to call in the grandparents to come and take the children out to burn off some energy!

Don’t wait to get any worse, call in the grandparents now! The longer you leave it, the harder the hill will be to climb. Let me know how you get on.

I took your advice and grandparents have taken the older 2 out to lunch 🥰 and they’re going to take a walk to the duck pond after so hopefully I’ll get a chance for a nap when the youngest has dropped off 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Best wishes
