Advice re Ablation

I am a 70 yr old woman suffering weak bladder and I am due to have an ablation soon. I usually have to go to the loo 2 or 3 times a night. I am worried that after I have the ablation I have heard that I will have to lie flat for a few hours. Can anyone advise me what will happen if Ineed to urinate?

I haven't had an ablation, but I did have an angiography which they went through the groin and I had to lie flat for a few hours. When I needed to go they just bought me a bedpan.

hello I had heart ablation in 2010 also need loo a lot. Just ask them to assist you with a cardboard container they use to wee in. You’ll be fine

Same here! I had my ablation in July. Didn't take my diuretic for starters. When I came to I needed badly to wee. No problem. They raised me just to enough and a nurse held the cardboard container for me and caught it all in there.

Please don't let it worry you. I'm sure you'll be fine. Xx Moy

I am also a 70 years old lady with a weak bladder and I had an ablation in October. I needed to wee soon after I came round from the anaesethic and they brought me a bedpan. It does feel strange weeing lying down but needs must. You will also find that as you cannot drink for several hours before the procedure, you won't want to go much anyway. All the best for your procedure and do take it very easy for several weeks. I'm only just starting to get my energy levels back now.

it is sometimes possible to train the bladder to hold more fluid, this can be done when you feel the need to hold for say 5 minutes start with and extending the time over a period to time. I have been a therapist if 25 years and had a younger friend with this problem when she’d got 2 small children. Every time they went out she would make her children and herself go to the loo, this was training the bladder backwards to not hold much urine.

This tip helped ‘cure’ her problem, lack of capacity, of course it won’t work for every condition but worth trying

Thank you, I will try to do this anyway. I think it is more in my mind than for a physical reason.
