I have been experiencing a burning ache in chest and shoulders when walking. I also get breathless sometimes even at rest. My first angiogram detected significant blocking of the LAD.
I have noticed that eating a meal immediately reduces breathlessness as if the physical "fullness" of the stomach has a role. Has anyone else experienced this effect ? I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia years ago.

I had chest 'discomfort' earlier this year and due to a previous NSTEMI heart attack four years ago spent time in and out of hospital with a resulting diagnosis of angina and was given the usual range of angina meds to take. However I did not present classic symptoms and there was a degree of uncertainty even more so when I mentioned I had reflux disease and possibly a hiatus hernia. Several months on I have stopped the angina meds (that was right at the beginning), have had an angiogram which shows I am in no worse shape than I was four years ago, and although I do get occasional discomfort my view and that of the cardiologist is that it is gastro rather than cardio related.
However in your case if you get chest pain after exercise that suggests to me, with the usual caveat about not being qualified, that it is more likely cardio rather than gastro related . You don't say whether you are on meds for angina. If you aren't you could buy a GTN spray for when you get an attack. These can apparently be bought over the counter. And if that works for you that does further suggest a cardio cause, and at that point you really do need to seek a qualified medical opinion such as your GP, if not sooner.
