Recovering from Myo-pericarditis

Hello I'm 46 and I'm currently recovering from myo-pericarditis. At first on my admission to A&E I was told I had had a heart attack. But after having angiogram echocardiogram I was told this was not the case. And then MRI confirmed Myo-pericarditis. I finding things difficult. I've gone from very active to not being able to do much. Also diagnosed with Grade 2 Diastolic dysfunction. Has anyone else experienced Myo-pericarditis and found your recovery slow. I was taking medication for high blood pressure but I have come off that for a while at advice from Cardiologist. I will probably have to go back to taking something. My symptoms still persist chest pain, upper back pain, pain in my right shoulder going down my arm, cough, lightheaded and dizziness. If anyone else has any advice about this condition or has known someone who has had this I'd love to hear from you. I had never even heard of this condition. Many Thanks in advance to anyone reading this.

Hi Rain,

I'm going through something very similar myself with myocarditis. I don't have time to write my usual speil just now - but wanted to reach out and tell you you're not alone.

If you click on my profile and read my previous posts, you'll see my story and the replies I've had - this forum has been very supportive.

Also if you type myocarditis or pericarditis into the search bar you will see other's posts as well.

Feel free to ask questions or vent - just don't mention the name of the virus that caused the pandemic as that leads to posts being removed 😜

Hi I've just read all of your details and posts and the replies. Who knew these conditions existed.....I certainly didn't. Rest, rest and more rest seems to be the order of play. Unfortunately my full time job which is a physical job and outdoors (which I haven't been back too since this all happened) needs me to be fully fit and I've been pushing myself since this happened to try and get back. Everytime I try and do a bit more I get pushed back. I now have a stinking cold to top it all off so back to bed and generally not doing alot. But it gives me great opportunity to research great sites. I wish you all the best in your recovery ☺️

Oh it's been an eye opener for me that's for sure! I've also used my rest time to read up on a lot of things heart related so it's not been a complete waste.

But definitely take the time to rest, I didn't really at first (not a physical job but a stressful one) and it really didn't help my recovery.

All the best for your recovery as well, hoping for a quick one! And if you've any questions or venting let us know!

hi! I was just reading your post and I’m dealing with the same thing. I’m wondering how you are doing now? It’s a roller coaster ride. I have a week where my inflammation seems to be significantly down and then a few days later it will go up again. I tried to do gentle yoga and suspect that may have done it. Any advice? Would love to hear how you are doing
