Pericarditis
Yes I had it late last year a month or so after an ablation for atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. I was prescribed a short course of Prednisolone and Colchicine and had to take things easy for a few weeks. It eventually settled down- thankfully
Thank you so much for replying! I had a battery of tests which ruled out many things but for some reason I don't feel reassured. Probably my head overreacting. I have an echo booked for Sunday so may feel better after that. Thanks again!
I picked up Pericarditis whilst on holiday in Cyprus. Two other Pericarditis patients and myself established a Pericarditis support Group. You are welcome to join us. There are now 220+ members:

Hi Helen
As a longstanding Pericarditis patient and a founder member of the UK Pericarditis group it works be really helpful if the BHF via Health Unlocked could list Pericarditis as one of the topics as a category in Health Unlocked given that many other heart conditions are listed. I do realize that the BHF provide Pericarditis information elsewhere on the BHF website.
Kind regards
Phil
Hey! Thanks for the heads up - great to have you on the community. I've added Pericarditis as a topic
Thanks Helen - that’s good - will make a difference. Many Pericarditis patients think with some justification that Pericarditis is seen as an orphan condition by the medical community and the media compared to other conditions such as heart attacks. Personally I had to leave a job that I loved because of Chronic Pericarditis. I had a Pericardioectomy (5 hour open heart surgery) to treat it primarily because of uncontrolled pericardial effusions. I’m now much better.
Hi I was diagnosed with it this week I have just finished lung cancer treatment and although I’m taking ibuprofen it’s still niggling on is this normal do you know?
