Advice on Aortic Regurgitation

Hi,

I need help with coping with severe fatigue which started Sunday 11th December.

To give some more context, it started Friday 9th. I woke up dizzy. Other than that, I had energy and felt fine. I went to the hospital and they suspected BPPV. Bloods were all okay.

The dizziness is better but fatigue started Sunday 11th is making just being awake a struggle and I'm not sure what to do, I assume it's my aortic regurgitation.

Any advice? At the moment it feels like I'm not going to make it to January which is when my valve replacement is scheduled for. Anyone had something similar before their op?

Thank you!

Richard

Dear Richard

Similar but not the same. My fatigue grew worse over a six month period. A few weeks before op I could only function for about two hours a day. I just had to rest and sleep. One noticeable factor was the tendency to fall forwards, not backwards,

Fast forward to January………the op is amazing. It is a big op but success is 99%. For a younger person who is not overweight I guess success is 99.9%.The convalescence is long but I felt a bit better every couple of days.

Hang on in there.

Hi Sooty,

Thank you so much for your prompt response. It's truly amazing how the human body works and the fact that you can have surgery being ill and feel so much better afterwards. I'm looking forward to January.

Thanks again, hanging on

Richard

Couldn't agree more BCSooty, the 1st few months are tough but one day it all seems to come together. 2 years on from my Mitral Valve repair and life is so much better. This year I celebrated my new found energy with a Snowdon climb and l'm currently in the research stage for next year's operation anniversary challenge. For you Richard, January is only a few weeks away stay strong and fingers 🤞 your outcome is as successful. What these guys and gals, in the NHS, do for us is fantastic and we the recipients should absolutely celebrate the renewed opportunities their skill and care have afforded us.

Good luck to you.

Due an AVR on 11 January and like you feel too ill to have op but had my pre-op assessment on Tuesday & they didn't seem to have any worries. Just want to get it all over & done with now & hopefully start to see some improvement albeit slowly I reckon, post op. Good luck and nice to see you on the f/b site 🙂

Hi all, thank you so much for your comments. I believe it was an infection related to BPPV and not to do with my regurgitation. At least that seems most logical. Feeling human again and looking forward to surgery early next year. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas x
