During and episode of AF I suffered a mini stroke(Tia)I've had 3 oblations and been relatively free from symptoms for a while but recently developed lots of palpitations which is slightly worrying I've made contact with my GP having the usual tests ECG bloods. I was hoping to find help and advice and also help other struggling with these scary issue really looking forward for to hearing from any who can help me as my anxiety is high again because of this also would like to help anyone else with similar issues I've 40 years of experience and seen lots of change

Hi Silverarrows. Cardiac arrhythmia is a strange beast as those of us living with it know it only too well. You may well get some very helpful replies here. Can I suggest you also try healthunlocked atrial fibrillation site too. There are hundreds of people dealing with arrhythmias of all shapes and types there and its an extremely active site. You are bound to find lots of useful info there and feedback. Best wishes.

I have AF, had it since 2011 but I was born with a hole in the heart and a heart murmur. Since then I have found out for me it is walking in the damp and the wind that sets my AF off with considerable pain. Have been in hospital 3 times due to pain so unless the weather is really calm and dry I use the car, and now thankfully my blue badge. You may not be the same but it is worth thinking about it

Hi just read your post that's awful sorry your feeling so anxious and to suffer from the age of 8 with that is awful in itself, I have palpitations been suffering with them mainly for the past year or so took a few months or probably longer can't remember exactly how long but I'm on verapamil for my palpitations I still get them and just feeling a few gives me terrible anxiety and getting anxious about it makes them even worse it's like a vicious circle sometimes when I feel a palpitation I stop what I'm doing and do some breathing exercises to try calm my heart down not sure if it helps my heart or just my anxiety hopefully this helps hope your keeping well.

Bugger.....you beat me! Had my first attack at 35 (1985) and have enjoyed (!) six attacks,a cardiac arrest and an aortic aneurysm repair; total 37 years. I bow to superior experience.

Swimming`s good...I wouldn`t miss it. 10/ 12 lengths of a pool 3* a week otherwise I`m a bear with a sore head (or so I`m told).

REEELAXXX, zzzzzzzzz. If you`re still working, you do a job for 15 minutes, then relax for the same. My old employer used to say `as long as it gets done (properly) take your time`.

If your hospital (or nearest city hospital) has a cardiac centre, join their club. It can be a bloody good laugh.

Plenty of `heart brochures` at your local surgery. Read them.

Oh, and if you`re retired, simply adapt and improvise. Avoid stress (Zzzzzzz) and `NO, you don`t have to mow the whole lawn today!`

Done me OK for 37 years (OK so it`s less than yours, NaNa Ni NANA) and the only time I use negative words like Anxie.....(forgotten how to spell it, oops) is when I`m talking to a medic.

Speaking of which I have a daughter and son, both doctors and when they see me I don`t have to say a thing.....they can tell whe summats up. Hey ho.

Ta-ra chuck,

Frank.
