blood test
With the caveat that I’m not medically qualified. No, these tests wouldn’t indicate to anyone that you’ve got nicotine in your system. The only test for nicotine is a specific one looking for a substance called cotinine, which is usually carried out on saliva, although can be run on blood samples. But unless you’re a minor, so under 18 years of age, doctors wouldn’t usually be bothered about nicotine use in any event, be that psychiatrists or any other kind of specialist, and nicotine is not considered a medication, even if you’re using a vape or other nicotine replacement therapy to quit smoking. I have to admit, I am therefore a little bit curious as to why you’re asking, but it is of course your right to not answer.
Hi, highly unlikely, they would have to specifically test for nicotine. I think it would be GC-MS method, whereas all the other tests are routine on an automatic analyser.
There are some analysers that can test for a lot of drugs, but the method isn’t great.
The gold standard method for a lot of ‘drugs of abuse’ is a urine sample for analysis, it looks for the metabolites.
As well, some drug metabolites are only present for a few days.
Your medic may be asking for the drugs you are taking as some drugs can interfere or can cause elevated liver enzymes.
