I have had a pacemaker fitted for five year and after a recent check I am feeling a pulse in the area of the unit. This has now only occured. Has anyone had experience of this happening, it does not happen all the time and if so what causes this to happen.

Pacemaker pulse felt at the site after regular check
Hi Tannery, Yes it's something I've had over the years. The area around the pacemaker has always been useful for a pulse, but, every now and again it feels very strong like a thump, thump, thump sensation, but, the Heart rate still seems normal. I've got Permanent AFib and put it down to that, but it appears I also have Atrial Flutter, so to be honest I've no idea why it happens.
Hello you,
Yes it happens now and then to me and the pacemaker team says that there is a web of nerves in that area that the pacemaker may rub when in a certain position.
So I took notes of when it happened and what I was doing, mine was bending from the waist for a period of time { playing with dog etc } triggered it, now bend at the knees { if I remember } and it seems to have done the trick.
But if you have any worries what so ever contact your pacemaker team they will help you.
Take care
