Bi-phasic T waves

I had an ECG as screening before participating in a trial involving exercised.

I got turned down for the trial because the cardiologist who checked the ECG said it demonstrated: 'sinus rhythm with bi-phasic T waves in the anterior chest leads through to B3'.

They've written this to my GP, suggested that I'm referred to a Cardiologist, and sent me a copy of the letter. I've therefore had no conversation with anyone who might explain what this means. I assume it's not incredibly serious seeing as the letter was dictated on 26th Sept and not typed till the 23rd Oct!

If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be grateful. I'll probably be waiting months before I'm actually seen by a medic.

I can't help you with info about your problem, but I would be seeing a GP as soon as possible for an explanation, if it could be the problems Thatwasunexpected discussed.

I’ve already asked my GP about this but they could say nothing as they hadn’t received the letter. Presumably they have now as mine arrived yesterday. I assume they’ll contact me today….

Thank you. I don’t have chest pain, and have always had an occasional irregular heart beat, but when I’ve worn a 24 hour monitor once before to try and shed some light on it, it failed to find anything wrong and I was discharged (that’s about 14 years ago). Maybe I have low potassium then. 🤷🏼‍♀️ They phoned to tell me about this about 4 weeks ago so I’m just relieved that they’ve finally written the letter, as now at least my GP has some info.

I've had strange T waves all my adult life.

At first it was a negative T wave that has now morphed into a flat T wave followed by a flat U wave.

My EP noticed that on my ECG on the day of my ablation but was not concerned.

I've had a blood test for hypokalemia but it was negative so I now just live with it.

Thank you. Yes I've just been living with the irregular heartbeat, which my mother, sister and niece have/had too. So I was surprised but not alarmed when they said something had shown up on the ECG. Mostly intrigued as up till now it's only been my word for it that there's anything irregular happening at all! It'll probably turn out to be nothing, but I'm still waiting for my GP to phone.
