That's a question for your GP - we all react to different medicines differently. What you tolerate well, could be detrimental to me.

Your GP will assess your symptoms and your medical history, as well as any concerns you have. We can't really do that.

I can only give you my experience.

I have high BP and was given Amlodipine. 5mg. After 6 weeks it is down by 40--- 180 to 140.

I have had no bad side effects, except for having to pee more often. I was warned about getting swollen legs+ but am ok.

Everyone is different, so you may be offered another medication altogether.

All the best.

Your doctor is the only one who can answer that. He will know what is the best for you and if one medication affects you adversely, I'm sure he/she will work with you to find one that suits you.

defo go ask your GP,, that is the only sensible course of action.

the medication depends on all of the conditions you may have. There also may be lifestyle changes you can make that can help… drinking, smoking, diet, exercise…maybe don’t be in a rush to get meds if there’s something you can do yourself?

Hope it all goes well.

It would be interesting to know the reading of your "high" blood pressure.

Some people may think their bp is high when it is perfectly normal.

Discard the first reading and average the next 2 or 3.

as others definitely question for GP but to control BP and reduce risks and impacts of high BP, is creating a balance with what you’re prepared to put up with as side effects I guess. Individual decision, some May put up with some side effects for the greater good a med could bring.

Not what you're looking for?
