Hi V at least that’s over. If they tell you to lose weight tell them to refer you to a dietician. If you’ve been trying to lose weight tell them that too. But wait and hear what she as to say first. Remember your heart is still healing. Anyone can have high blood pressure and sometimes there’s a different reason that causes it.
Let us know how you get on. All the best
Very likely both, ive been hypertensive and diabetic for years so im on now 3 bp meds plus others due to heart problemI found the right exercise for me helped enormously, i took up indoor rowing machine, but cant do that now till aft my op
All the best try not to worry aS stress puts bp up
I bet you're glad that's out the way! Hopefully they'll tell you that your BP is perfect.
When I did it, my BP was averaging 157/92 and so they put me on amlodipine and advised more exercise, especially cardio. I'm a little bit over weight but not much, so they didn't mention anything about losing weight.
If you do have a raised BP make sure they've covered any under lying causes.
I had 24 hour bp monitoring twice. Neither worked. Both said I had impossibly high bp. I think the machines were duff. I learned how to do it myself using an Omron machine and have since had it assessed quite thoroughly while doing a Bruce stress test. I do believe that learning to use one of these home machines properly is better for many people.
Presumably being at the ideal weight for your height and frame would be very beneficial, as would regular but not too arduous exercise, as would a stress free job and life. …
In the absence of everything being absolutely perfect (!) you can only try to eat a sensible low salt diet of fresh foods , move as much and often as you can , accept meds and ask for as much relevant and appropriate medical/dietetic/ exercise advice as you can access via your Gp or local gym or other.
Do you think/know you need to lose weight? If so it would be worth asking for any assistance available. It’s hard to do it alone and you need to feel supported and understood rather than judged and struggling. It certainly is possible and you enjoy exercise so that is a big part of your health journey.
Sending you love, positive vibes and very best wishes.
So I've spoken to the nurse at my GP surgery about my 24 hour BP monitor results.
It was high like I was expecting so I've been put on medication and I've been told to lose weight, I was already planning to go back to slimming world tomorrow anyway. It's worked before so I'll try again.
