Hi all

Been on here a few times before surgery so some may remember me.

Had Triple Bypass on 16th September. Was meant to be Quad but they couldnt find a fourth suitable vein so i still have one compromised artery which upsets me.

Anyway, immediately after surgery i had internal bleeding. I had 5 blood transfusions, 3 plasma and 2 Crico (?).

After being in ITU for 4 days i was moved to the ward. Almost straight away i started with AF. At times my heart was racing at 200 bpm and it made me feel quite unwell. I was put on Amiododine (?)

I was discharged from Glenfield last Sunday, day 10 even though i was struggling to move well. They thought it was because i had a partial collapsed lung with fluid around the base lining. I collapsed twice whilst walking with the physios. They said the more i moved the quicker it would clear. It wasnt bad enough to drain.

Day 12 really struggled to get upstairs. Phoned GP who called an ambulance. Day in A&E followed by a contrast CT scan middle of the night. Turns out i have numerous large clots in the main pulmonary arteries. (Pulmonary Embolism)

That was on Tuesday this week. So its Saturday now. Been on all the blood thinners/treatments/antibiotics etc for 4 days. Still in the High Dependancy Respiratory Unit at Derby.

Anyone else been through this. Really want to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Can i relax yet and how long did it take you to recover?

Feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything.

Love Susie x

Quite understand why you are overwhelmed. So sorry Susie I can’t help you with your question but there will be others on this wonderful site that might be able to help you. But what I can do is send you a big gentle virtual hug with the hope your health improves very soon. X

Hello :-)

I have just seen your post and read it and was so upset to see what you have and are going through

I have not had this experience but I have spoken to many that have had complications after surgery some like yours and I hope I can reassure when I say they all got sorted out in the end so hang in there what feels like a terrible time which is sounds like it is will come good :-)

Also these people that had complications once they were sorted they went on to make an excellent recovery better than some that did not have complications

Again I am genuinely upset this has been your experience but it will have a happy ending and please when you are up to it let us know how you are getting on :-) x
