Swollen soles of feet with heart medication.

On the usual cocktail of Heart Failure medication, Bisoprolol,Valsartan,Dapa,Aspirin,Folic Acid,etc etc.

Since the medication started just after my Stemi Heart attack I have constantly swollen and sore soles of my feet. I am not overweight,have cycled 1500miles in last 18months and walked on a regular basis.

I stopped the cycling and walking for a couple of weeks but the swelling and soreness continued. My cardio registrar advises it is caused by the bisoprolol but it is the best drug for me. I also have constantly cold hands.Anyone else had the same problem and had their medication changed?

I do get swelling sometimes on one of my feet and ankles but never had it on the soles of my feet and it sounds painful

I know this might be the best medication for you but if it is getting in the way of you exercising and doing the things you enjoy then I would talk to them again

I hope others will be able to give you some better advice as well as you manage to get this sorted

hi, oh the cold hands, feet, nose etc - I remember them well. I put up with them until you- know-what calmed down . Three years.

This is just my experience, I’m not medical. Last year I posted about “winter coming - cold hands etc” ( can be found tapping my profile). From the replies, I realised that I maybe didn’t have to suffer. So off to the Gp and Bisoprolol was halved to 2.5mg. Within the week I was sent to Cardiology . Stable/ unstable angina every 20 mins,which I had never had before. After a thorough MOT I came away with Ivabradine tablets and Bisoprolol stopped. Cardio had picked up on the fact that although I exercised I complained of never having enough puff to climb hills although my body felt able. Also the cold extremities and swollen ankles.

I had presumed my sore feet was my fibromyalgia. Every time I stood up it was crippling , tear watering to get going. On longer walks I dosed myself up with cocodamol every 2 hours. Well, it disappeared after I went on Ivabradine! Along with the restrictive breathing and cold extremities. (Well, still get a cold nose).

Unfortunately I now get the occasional burst of stable/ unstable angina but I’m happy with the outcome.

Everyone is different. But I’ve learned that I have to stand up and wave if I need help because the medics are too busy to look. So, good luck and don’t stop waving until you have an answer!

Hi me again, getting no where with this, thanks for replies but this soreness is only happening to both the soles of my feet which change to a red colour after excercise,standing,cycling and driving,

Cardiac Registrar is insistent about keeping the BT blockers, Sports Physio suggests contacting the GP but even if I can hold of one I have liitle faith in them playing around with my cardiac meds.

Am amazed that no-one on here can help, just consider myself an average Joe of John!
