Chest pain & subsequent leg pain

in 2008 I was diagnosed with an ectopic heartbeat, and a leaky mitral valve. I was put on Bisoprolol and Ramipril. I have palpitations.

Life continued as normal including the gym and running.

I eventually stopped the gym and running due to joint problems.

In 2019 I was diagnosed with angina and given a spray which I hate as the head explosion can be worse than the symptoms.

A few months ago I had the most horrendous vice like pain accompanied by the worst ear ache in my right ear. It eventually stopped but when I took a deep breath I had pain in my lungs. I was in bed at the time. I got to see a GP as I thought I had pleurisy. I had antibiotics and after a few weeks I was OK.

However, I have been left with terrible pains in my right leg which do keep me awake.

I know it's easy to pin everything on the heart and heart drugs but has anybody else got experience of this.

Sorry for the long post.

Hello Benbobs, sorry to hear of your situation, I don’t have experience of what you’re describing but if I did I would be keeping a diary of aches, pains, feelings and speak to your GP to get to the bottom of it all. Don’t ignore your symptoms- you know your body and if it’s not feeling right then speak to the medics asap. Good luck, I hope you get some answers and feel better soon ❤️

Hello Benbobs,

Apologies for late response - I’ve only just read your post. I’ve been on Bisoprolol for over 4yrs now apart from a few months swap to another beta blocker that I didn’t get on with. The only side effect I’ve suffered is a prickly heat sensation when exercising but that passed after a month or so & a little fatigue. I can empathise with the leg pain - I would guess it’s joint related? My recent situation was, I was suffering similar until knee surgery in July - waiting now 6months before I decide whether to have a total knee replacement. The surgery has helped the pain which was right down my tibea & into my foot even at rest. I have only a tiny piece of cartilage left (on one side of my tibea) in my whole knee & had all 3 bones of the joint smoothed off so they run against each other better - they’ve already gone hard so wear isn’t the issue it would be with “normal” bone. The rough / damaged bone surfaces was causing the irritation & hence pain even at the good end of the bone where there was no trauma. That pain was incredible.

Best of luck getting your issues sorted. Stay strong. 💪
