Assuming you’re on the usual cocktail of drugs they give after a heart attack it may well be them. Bisoprolol can make people short of breath on exercise for example

Hi Ruby300. I don’t understand the wheezing sound coming from your nose other than to suggest that you might be breathing more through your nose than you think. However, I can say that, after I had stents last year, I found that I was always struggling for breath for the first 10 or 20 minutes of walking. At first, I thought I’d better stop but then I started to just keep going and I found that my breathing always improved. I made enquiries about this with my cardiologist and also with a physiotherapist. Both said that the reason for this is that your blood vessels soften as you exercise and then everything starts to flow better and your breathing becomes easier. The fitter you get, the less time it takes for this to happen. I now walk 4 to 5 miles at a time and am rarely bothered with the initial breathing difficulties. Obviously, if you are getting chest pains when you start walking then you should seek advice.

Thank you for that. I went for a walk this morning I did five miles the same thing happened for about ten mins then it was fine so I guess you are right I didn’t get the wheezing this morning so I will keep eye on it I also go to the gym which is fine. Thank you 😊

I keep some quite comprehensive notes on my health especially since by quadruple heart bypass 4 months ago. I note that I am often quite or very breathless. At other times I am fine.

I note that when I am breathless then walking 'through' it seems to help.

A case in point was yesterday when we were away a few days, I felt very breathless just after breakfast but we were intending to do some of the often very tough south west coastal footpath near Looe

After 20 minutes the breathlessness had disappeared and i was walking up some of the very long steep slopes and we went some 2 or 3 miles,. In the afternoon we walked the same distance in the opposite direction up equally steep slopes-regretting it this morning as legs are aching!

I think we are a bit like an oldish car that when first started might rattle and groan a bit but once we are warmed up-Heart/blood vessels-then the initial slow and creaky start disappears.

As for the nose, as has been suggested perhaps you breathe more from your mouth as your nose might be a bit blocked with a cold or hay fever.
