thank you so much for all your responses to my post last night
my dad had his echocardiogram this morning but they were unable to get a clear picture as they said his heart rate is too fast, he’s also possibly got a leaky valve? I’m not sure what the next steps for this would be, the lady doing the scan seemed to think upping his dose of bisoprolol would help. He’s on that and a blood thinner, rivaroxaban? I think. He has got a fib.
Has anyone had this? Heart failure has not been specifically mentioned but it always seems to be the first option when I Google (I know I need to stop googling!!)
thanks so much again

I have permanent AF and three leaky heart valves. I am. 79 year old lady and I take Bisoprolol and Apixaban. I recently had an Echcardiogram and was advised that I take water tablets as thus would relieve the pressure on my heart. Generally I feel well and am quite active, doing 5 Mile walks a couple of times a week . Some walks are on the flat which I find easier but I also walk up and down hill. I do struggle with long uphill routes although my consultant seemed pleased that I was doing those.
Hello
Yes you know keep of Google
There should be a follow up appointment I would imagine and meantime it gives a chance to see how your Dad is on the increase of meds
He is going to be alright but you have to be patient but the answers will come and they will make sure he gets the best treatment
