New to a pacemaker

I have just had a pacemaker fitted and I had a lead misplacement that pierced the wall of my heart. I am ok although sore but I am not sure what is normal and what isn’t.

I guess I am a little nervous that it might happen again.

Dear Charliechicken

A warm welcome to you and your first post, I hope that you get from this forum the support and knowledge that I and many others do.

Its a strange and wonderful thing to get you head around having a pacemaker fitted isn’t it, the sheer complications of not only this incredible piece of equipment and what its job is but also having the complex operation to place it within us.

It is a procedure { like a lot of operations } that because of its commonplace we take as not being so problematic.

But it is a very complicated operation to place the leads into our hearts { yes I have one } and like all other operations sometimes they don't always work as planned.

We hear of others in your situation and I’m sure that they will be along soon, I don’t know exactly what the risks of it happing but I was certainly warned about it at the pre-op stage.

I really hope that this was just a hiccup in your heart journey and that they will be able to get you back on track.

Take care and please let us know

You are in my thoughts.
