My husband (79) has been on Entresto for nearly 2 years. Has no energy or strength and is tired most of the time with breathing problems after a very short walk in the garden. Hasn't seen cardiologist or had his EF checked since prescription issued. GP will not change any medication cos of heart problems.

You can request to be referred by your GP. And I understand you can ask for a second opinion if you are not happy with the outcome although success is not of course guaranteed. Or you can arrange for a private cardio consultation although this may also need a referral but since you will be paying that should present fewer problems. Fees for consultations are of the order of £200 for a first time appointment, and follow ups cheaper, with any tests as extras.

Sounds as though he needs to be seen by somebody, preferably a cardiologist. Depends on what his original problem was, of course, but it could be creeping old age! I'm on the first three of his drugs and feel tired most of the time. I blame the bisoprolol. But they have worked for my overall condition so I keep taking them. With the Entresto, my EF improved dramatically, but I don't feel any change. We are all different.

I found with bisoprolol & metoprolol - both beta blockers that I was very tired & also felt cold while taking them. They are recognised side effects.

I would check his BP regularly and see if is a problem. If not then ask GP to review the need for Bisoprolol. I was prescribed it for over a decade and I have shown my problem to be due to LOW Bp so Bisprolol went in the bin immediately. I can't say I feel that different but definitely fewer dizzy spells when rising from a sitting position.

Thank you Jak8 for your comments. He's been on Bisoprolol for 10 years and although his BP has averaged at 100/65 regularly, he was coping extremely well until he started taking Entresto which, we are told, cannot be stopped because of his severe heart failure (EF 12-19% at last Echo, a few years ago). He has a defibrilator & pacemaker in situ and that regulates his pulse at 60bpm, until it "fires", which thankfully doesn't happen very often these days. We have convinced ourselves it's the Entresto causing his problems but we are not medics. Stay safe and well.

I had problems with Entresto and my Heart Failure Nurse halved the dosage and I have been fine on it since. Perhaps worth discussing with your GP/Cardiologist/Heart Failure Specialist.

Yes i can also understand the feeling. Entresto at the middle dose of 51/49 was too high for me and made me so out of it. Both mentally and physicall. I now half the tablet on the morning and sometimes on a evening which vastly improves my energy levels. But your husbands low ef rate could also be the root cause or a main factor in this. i wish you all the best x
