Dear Goldstar45
A warm welcome to you and your first post, I hope that the forum will prove as helpful to you as it has to me and many others.
Dapagliflozin, I am on this as well and it is almost time for you to see if it is working for your EF which it has hopefully risen. { between 8-14 weeks i was told }
I never had or have a weight loss while taking it so I can’t help you there but certainly it helped to increase my EF.
It seems that weight loss is a side effect as it plays around with the blood sugars, I am sure that there is a more technical term for this and our beloved diabetics will be able to fill us both in to what it is.
If you have any questions on this drug I would suggest that you talk to your Cardiologist/ Drs about it and he/she will be able to answer them and what they are expecting from you taking them.
Good luck with it all, and welcome again.
take care
Many thanks have now contact my cardiologist
Hi. I started this med about 2 weeks ago. Very minor weight loss but definitely peeing a lot more. My blood pressure is stable. The hf specialist told me that it wouldn’t have an impact upon my weight as I’m not diabetic but I know other people have experienced weight loss. I was put on it, alongside entresto, to improve my EF. It’s early days but I’m hoping for good results. If you have any doubts about the side effects why don’t you speak to your pharmacist if it’s difficult to reach your gp. Good luck.
Many thanks
Hi. Just an update. I weighed myself this morning and have lost 1kg in a week without trying. I’m thinking it’s mainly fluids but it’s definitely coincided with starting Dapagliflozin. I’m not worried as I have spare weight to lose but will definitely be keeping an eye on it.
Hello Anon.
How is the medicine treating you now? Any improvements? I am about to start it and also on entresto.
hi. I’ve had no side effects really, other than going to the loo more often. I think I’ve tolerated Dapa quite well as I was initially worried about thrush etc. I’ve got a scan on 23/1 so will hopefully know after that if there has been any improvement in my heart function. I would definitely give this medication a try and see how you get on. I’ve been told that it’s an excellent med for heart failure if you can tolerate it. Best wishes. X
Good luck with the scan. X
hi. I had the scan last Monday but have to wait 4 weeks for the results. The radiographer said it looked like my EF was 53 (up from 46) but said the cardiologist would have to confirm it. Any improvement is a bonus and as I’ve only been on the meds for 6 months I’m hoping it will keep getting better. Fingers crossed.
Hi. Hope you are ok and find a medication that suits you better. 😊
Sorry I've not responded to you messages don't look at the site too often hope you are keeping OK my cardio doctor halved my Spironolactone dose and my blood pressure has risen a bit and weight loss has stopped so we go on!All the best thanks for your correspondence

I have lost 7lbs since starting this medication in April. HF nurse tells me it is ok and it’s the water flushing properties. She also advised that thrush is another side effect for some people.
I am on Dapagliflozin 5mg along with furosemide 10 mg , they are helping me with breathlessness. Unfortunately I could not take Entresto.
