Metoprolol
Hi thereI replied in detail to your post on Saturday then I must have pressed the wrong button because it all disappeared down a black hole never to be seen again.
Basically, it seems that people react differently to Metoprolol.
I also take the form that you have which slow releases over the day so whatever dose you are put on it will be once a day. Many people are on a lot more: 50 or 100mg per day seems typical.
The main effect for me is that it slows me down, I get fatigue which I think is from this drug; I see it as my zombie pill. I've had the dose reduced from 25 to 12.5mg per day but it still slows me down. Hopefully, one day I'll get off it.
Having said that my situation is different to yours. I'm 66 with a pacemaker that stops my heart going too slow (Bradycardia). Apparently I also have a tendency to Tachycardia as well so this low dose of Metoprolol is to deal with that side of things.
Basically I'd say watch that it doesn't slow things down too much. If I understand things correctly it reduces the adrenaline going to the brain which can be a positive or negative thing to do. However I'm not a health professional, just someone with a dodgy ticker. Maybe someone can give you more accurate information, but you're right to question.
Cheers and look after yourself.
