amiodarone
Hello, naturally I am not medically qualified but it seems a long time to be on amiodarone. If you stopped the tablets abruptly without reducing them slowly it may be withdrawal, though 4 weeks is a long time. Please speak with your GP as soon as possible or if you have a good Pharmacist they may be able to help., I hope you get on okay. Take care, Judi .
I only took amiodorane for a week and had to stop because the nausea and vomiting were so bad. It took over a week for the symptoms to go away.
I’ve been on amiodarone longer than that, but fortunately only felt sick for the first two weeks or so. My dose was lowered from 200mg a day to 100mg because of symptoms caused by a low heart rate, and it took several weeks to notice any effect, probably about two to three months. Amiodarone has a very long half life so it stays in the system for months. For that reason it’s not dangerous to stop it completely and you don’t get withdrawal symptoms - what you get are ongoing effects of the drug. So hang in there - they will go away eventually!
