After Heart Surgery

I am 65 years old and had minimal invasive aortic valve replacement in April 21. They went in through the right side of my chest and the op was a success. I am having an ongoing problem of water retention which I am now finding quite worrying. The GP has given me Furosemide water tablets 20mg to take - one every day for a couple of days and then one every second day and see how I get on. I am worried about what is causing this but just seem to be given tablets every so often. I had the heart failure blood test and the number was raised but not enough to cause concern and she said to repeat again in August.

Morning BernieMB, I wonder if you could try and speak to your Cardiologist about this? My experience with my GP hasn’t been great when it comes to matters of the heart. If it was me, I would either contact your hospital where operation was carried out or get in touch with Cardiologist. As I say, just my experience and opinion. I hope you get sorted as it must be concerning for you.
