So often we 'meet' and make friends here on this forum. We find members who write such wonderful helpful posts that we look for them when we log on.
But some of those members seem to disappear without a word so I thought it right I let anyone who has been wondering 'Where has Gladwyn gone?' know the sad news she recently passed away after spending the last 18 months or so in worsening health.
We met here on the forum in 2019 and soon discovered we lived a few miles from each other. We did most of our 'visiting' via email as we were both not up to in-person meet-ups - her emails always hit my inbox when I was most in need of a day brightener and I can only hope my emails made her think, and giggle as much as hers did me.
She was a dear Lady Heartie and a wonderful friend I will miss for the rest of my life.
She fought the good fight for decades (Congestive Heart, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, T2D, and a chronic liver condition) but lost her fight (to pneumonia) 18 July 2022. She leaves behind a devastated husband of forty years, a son and daughter and grown granddaughter.

And thank-you for asking - well...I finally got the definitive microvascular angina diagnosis but good ole weirdo me, my bad time comes in summer, not winter like normal folks with the condition. sigh
Good days, not-so-good days - it's summer and I'm needing the GTN a lot more often than I'd like. Slowly, slowly getting better at managing this latest whammy, and hopefully I'll be more active here on the forum and in 'real-life', lol (oh my poor poor house!).
You must be loving the warm weather, are you able to be more active now it's summer?
Sunnie, I am sorry that you have offically joined the angina non obstructive coronary arteries ANOCA club ☹️. Not a club that any of us wanted to join.
I have been having a small respite, thanks. However after my May admission, I am still having some exertional chest pain which is new for me. I haven't been able to go swimming.
I now await a stress echocardiogram.....wish me luck.
Take care of yourself. Just learn to pace using the Spoon theory.
I have learned to have a blind spot to dust and untidy houses 😉

I have severe aortic regurgitation and an enlarged heart. Waiting on surgery.
Symptoms are very visible now. Not sure what your heart condition is/was, but can anyone elaborate their symptoms and how they could tell things were getting worse?
I feel much worse but ECGs show no difference apparently, although I’m very severe and waiting on OHS soon.
We are definitely here to help - post a question using the 'write' icon at the top right of the screen. Put your conditions in the topic line followed by something like 'Would appreciate hearing how others are with the same' and you'll have several very helpful replies with 24 hours (or sooner).
I'd comment on your specifics but my heart conditions are different, nothing I can offer beyond (((HUGS))) that would be of much practical use
As Sunnie2day said we have different conditions, i had rare blockage which required OHS Bypass surgery but unfortunately had rare complications but happy to say I made a good recovery eventually, i’m almost 2 years post op and returned to work on the ambulances in January. The doctors are excellent in their field of work but only you know your own body and will recognise if something is worsening, follow your own instincts and be persistent in answers from the doctors.

Adam, I think you should ring your heart hospital and ask to speak to your Heart Surgeon's secretary and ask them to pass on your symptoms to your surgeon . If you havn't been assigned a surgeon yet, make a fuss at your GP's surgery.
Thank you for letting us know. I keep looking for people and dreading the news. I find these last two years have been very difficult and I’ve got to the stage where I daren’t telephone people in case of bad news. Sadly people do leave but I’m glad of the support here as I’m sure Gladwyn was too.
So sad. Its lovely you two could be so supportive to each other. I too have a dear friend made from AFA forum. People come into our lives and improve it greatly.
I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I do remember the name. But I think with so many different sections on healthunlocked we all seem to keep to the ones relevant to our condition that worries us the most. I have a pacemaker and severe copd. But tend to stick with people in the Lung sections because that's my main concern. Thoughts to the family and also yourself for losing a dear friend. Brian
Hi Sunnie, I do remember Gladwyn & I'm very sorry to hear of her passing, please pass my condolences on to her family. I'm also very sorry that you have lost such a wonderful friend.
I too have made some wonderful friends not just in the group. One such friend recently sat up with me all night (albeit remotely as she lives so far away) while I waited for paramedics for Kevin, it's so comforting to have friends who understand.

So sorry to hear of the sad lose of your friend and thank you for telling us about the input to the forum that she had.
It is amazing that her input will still be helping others as they ask the questions that we all have on our journey.
I hope that you find peace in the knowledge that you knew such a special person and that they came into your life to help ease your own problems.
I wish her family and loved ones { you included } the ability to be able to celebrate her life as she moves deeper into your hearts and thoughts.
Oh dear it’s always sad to loose a friend. It’s a stiff reminder to us all that some on this website are dealing with all kinds of challenges in life that we know nothing about. Bless her 🙏 Sue xx
