Concentric remodelling Left Ventricle Geometry

hello this question is for understanding and learning regards finding on my echo which overall was stated as “reassuring” which I am content with (I think).

Under left ventricle section states “increased relative wall thickness and normal LV mass indexed to BSA suggest concentric remoulding LV geometry”

I have no idea what the measurements above this sentence mean to appreciate the “significance” of the finding I.e. I don’t know how thick etc. but as they say report reassuring I guess it’s not of significance?

But if anyone can shed any light on what the above often relates to / means I’d be very interested to hear from you!

There are a few areas where said not well seen / only visual assessment, low echo probability of pulmonary hypertension regards tricuspid valve and trace regurgitation in said valve. It’s a whole different language!

I’m thinking when say low probability they mean unlikely or are they saying there is some likelihood albeit low? 🤔

And if stating no significant regurgitation in several places in report why not just say none or does it mean there is some just not significant but then why say on one place trace??? 🤨

Thanks, appreciate the echo is written for medical people but still curious.😊

Hi fishface101, these reports are so difficult to read so I'm not going to try to interpret it butI would advise you to call the bhf helpline and talk with a cardiac nurse. They are very helpful.Just take comfort for now that the results of your echo were reassuring.😀

Thank you for the suggestion, yes definitely difficult to read and to lay person like me come across as ambiguous. 😊

Well exactly, have you got a follow up appointment booked?

in reply tolettingoffsteam

Well I should be having one, once the confusion of getting a perfusion scan requested by cardiologist is sorted and me receiving an scan appointment, then face to face appointment. Currently cardiologist mistakenly asked for MRI which was rejected by nuclear medicine department and now waiting for cardiologist to correctly request the perfusion scan. I am some what impatient though as meds not controlling my angina well. 😔

Oh no, how frustrating for you! I hope it gets sorted out soon, especially as you're in pain. Let's hope that they come up with some solutions.

My post heart attack discharge letter wa like that. I just asked my GP to translate it into normal English and explain the relevance of the findings.

Thanks that would be good idea.
