Prednisone has some unpleasant side effects.

I am aware of this research
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
However it is just a single patient who also lives with asthma.
I live with refractory vasospastic angina too. For me one patient’s response to a medication that has unpleasant, long term, side effects is not sufficient evidence to say prednisone is safe and effective in treating vasospastic angina.
Milkfairy,I've been diagnosed with Kounis syndrome. It is defined as acute coronary syndrome (symptoms such as chest pain relating to reduced blood flow to the heart) caused by an allergic reaction or a strong immune reaction to a drug or other substance.
It is being caused by my thyroid medication. Vasoplastic Angina. I have to take the medicine to live, so I need to pain manage the Angina. A very sad Catch 22.
I am sorry you have been diagnosed with Kounis syndrome an allergic cause of coronary vasospasms. It does certainly complicate matters.
I cannot take aspirin as it's a possible allergic trigger for my vasospasms.
You are certainly between a rock and a hard place.
Out of interest how where you diagnosed with Kounis syndrome? It's another under recognised possible cause of coronary vasospasms.
I was on Prednisone for years as I have severe asthma. The side effects are terrible-weight gain etc . And it sucks Calcium from the bones. I now have Osteoporosis ( Well Osteoarthritis ) .
Hi There, I just read your post. I had angina and an innocent heart murmur when I was on levythyroxine. I haven't had any issues with my heart since I switched to amour thyriod ( NDT) back in 2003.
awesome!
