I have been taking Clopidogrel for 3yrs following a suspected TIA. 18mths into that time, I had issues with my BP a fluctuating from very high to very low. Now seem to have sorted out BP med with help of GP a and Cardiologist
But last few weeks felt extremely tired, more like exhaustion, hard to function.
I am thinking that I may need to stop Clopidogrel. Is that safe?

I cannot why after three years of taking Clopidogrel without problem you feel it is responsible for your sudden tiredness. Often it is only prescribed for a year so your cardiologist and GP must feel it is of benefit. May I ask what other medications are you on and for how long have you been taking them?
Just stopping Clopidogrel without advice could have serious consequences!
Thank you for your reply. I am on Lansaporozole, Losartan at 50mg twice a day. My cardiologist could not find any causes for my labile BP and more or less said to try to regulate the Losartan myself. As either high BP or low BP cannot both be treated together, and it would be preferable to stabilise the high BP and ‘just live’ with the low.
I was also prescribed a Beta blocker when the BP issue started, but did not have good reaction to it. So no longer on that.
I have to say that I have been successfully taking medication for high BP for more than twenty years, and suddenly developed this issue with labile BP!!!!
So meds were changed only to go back on Losartan same dose but in two 1/2 doses a day.
I have recently been prescribed Oxybutinin for urge incontinence…
Is this information of any help.
I am aware that I should not change medication without GP say so.
I would put my money on the Oxybutinin as started recently and one of the side effects is sleepiness, dizziness and blurred vision. I would run it past your GP.
NO it's not safe without a doctor's permission. It prevents your blood from getting sticky and causing clots which you obviously need after a TIA. YOu must talk to your doctor. I'm not medically trained but I can't imagine clopidogrel causing your present problems which do need discussing with your GP or cardiologist.
I agree with you . Great advice! I was rushed into A & E and had to have an op. The doctors took me of Clopidogrel for 7 days before I had the op but I had to stay in hospital in case I had another heart attack ( I’ve had two HAs)
