2 days ago I got pain in the back of my neck. Hubby said I must have been in a draught. That night I got terrible cramps in both my legs. They lasted about an hour. I used Magnesium oil and it helped. Had them again last night . Anyone else suffer with cramps. I drink plenty water and go for my walks. Any advice . Have a good day

One of the HeartStars MichaelJH has a condition called PAD where narrowing of the leg arteries occur. One symptom is cramp. Apparently there's an easy test called a Doppler that can check for this. Sorry I do not know any more. I have flagged Michael as he feels it is an underdiagnosed and undertreated condition.

Thanks for reply. Husband suffers from PADHe can only walk for about 10 minutes and has to stop and rest, then another 10.

I have varicose veins, had some removed20 years ago.

Those have started very suddenly, I suffered very badly for years and I used to take Quinine tablets my legs feel sore today. I wonder if heart related or veins. Have a good day and take care.

Cramp is quite commonplace, I certainly get it, so does my wife. If you are taking any medication one of them might give you an increased risk of cramp, so look at the information data sheets. Next, don't initially assume you have the onset of a serious condition, there is more likely a simple explanation, but if it becomes a regular and debilitating condition I suggest you go see your GP, especially if a change in medication provides a solution.

Dear Bishop1

I had agonising cramps that drove me mad !

I found that using the magnesium in a bath { powder not oil } that helped better.

second was when my heart nurse asked me had I cut out all salt from my diet? Which I had, so she suggested that I used a weak salt solution { drink } when the onset of cramp happened, it stopped them dead, so now I don't soak in the bath anymore.

Both things, soaking in magnesium salt and taking the salt solution {type used for diarrhoea} has to be put to your DR or heart team before you try them.

Hope it helps

Thank you for your reply. I still have a little salt in my cooking and I like a bag of ready salted crisps sometimes. No changes in my medication. Have a good day x x
