Hello Pankakes
I don’t think you can apply for PiP, unless you have previously been paid PiP. Reason is that you are over pension age.
Consider Attendance Allowance. Much easier claim form than PIP . And it really doesn’t matter what the name is…..you get some extra money!
Benefits are a world of its own.
Maybe ask citizens advice bureau.
Good luck

Hello pankakes2013
Usually you need to be aged under 65 years to be eligible to claim a Personal Independence Payment PIP.
If you are over 65 years you maybe eligible for an Attendance Allowance instead.
I suggest you contact Citizens Advice or Age UK for more advice.

The process of applying is not easy.
I used this organisation to help me when I successfully applied for my PIP

Good luck!
The maximum age for PIP claims has recently been increased in line with the state pension age and is now 66. Ultimately it will be 68 but I suspect ultimately that will be increased!
Thanks for the reminder that it's linked to the year you draw your pension.
I should have remembered as I am affected by this change 😊
Hi pankakes, I recently applied for AA, the Citizens Advice helped me complete the forms and I sent Consultants letters etc., I thought here goes an Appeal as I was told that no one gets it on first application. I was amazed to be granted it, no hassle. I am 75, you can’t get PIP if you are over retirement age.Now wonder if I’m iller than I think!
Hi pankakes, As I recall I looked at the forms on line and decided at 30 pages long I wasn’t going to waste that much printing ink and phoned and requested the forms, they came within the week. I phoned the Citizens Advice and made a face to face appointment for an hour.
The adviser was very clued up on how you should present your problems, I would have made massive mistakes otherwise, I had been told it is very difficult to get AA, without the Citizen's Advice help I don’t think I would have got it.
I filled in the form back at home, took a photocopy of the completed forms, and enclosed Consultants letters, anticipating needing to go to Appeal. Posted it by Registered Post. 25/4/22 and I had the letter of entitlement on the 5/6/22. They back date the allowance to when you asked for the forms so you get a lump sum and a weekly allowance.
Good luck and fingers crossed for you.X
