I am on 80mg Furosemide in the morning and 20mg at lunch time (a quite large dose). I have recently been asked to stop the Furosemide and change to 1mg Bumetanide. Has anyone any experience of this medication they can share?

Change from Furosemide to Bumetanide
Was on 200mg furosemide, it seems to lose its effectiveness in some people after long term use. Changed to 5mg bumetanide, 3 in morning, 2 in afternoon and now down to 2 in morning and 1 in afternoon
Thanks for that Andrew. I don't now what dosage of bumetanide I will be on until I receive the medication from the pharmacy, I do know it will be a 1mg x 112 pack which seems to indicate it will probably be 4mg per day. I'm a little apprehensive about changing over though.
Hi Alibaloo, yes I changed from Furosimide to Bumetanide. I’m on 3 tablets per day. 2 morning 1 lunchtime. I did reduce to 2 per day but I was getting fluid build up. Reason I changed was due to the Furisomide cough. The cough is better but still have it a little. Had no other problems with the change over. It took a while to get my dose right for me. I started on 4 tablets per day then down to 2 then 2 1/2 then back to 3. Just give it time to get it right.
Thanks. I also have a cough and some fluid build up, I guess that is the reason for the change to Bumetanide.
Interesting to read your post. I have been taking Furosomide for years in varying doses but of late it has been 40mg in morn and 20mg aroumd midday. I have just changed to Bumetanide - two days ago. I take 1 in morning and a half tablet around lunch. It isn't very often I had a build up of fluid but if I did it was firstly my eyelids and then face! Especially interested that you mentioned a cough. I have been coughing for years - used to come and go but this past two years I just cough all day long and nobody has mentioned why. Furosomide cough has not been mentioned so perhaps that us why the HF nurse has prescrined it. I take alot of meds and gave an ICD fitted. The Respitory Consultant at my hospital does not know why either. After reading your post I don't want to get too hopeful that the Furosomide could be responsible. I do get quite breathless. My cough feels more like an irritaion in my throat and is worse when I move from one temperature to another and cough especially when I speak on phone! It is better some days than others.
I don't cough up any fluid although I gave done other years - cough also has changed most years too!
Was anything similar happening with you?
Look forward to hearing your reply.
I also was changed from furosemide to Bumetanide. Personally I feel much better for the change. Furosemide wasn’t working anymore and I felt like fluids was building up in my body. I personally feel a lot better on Bumetanide. I did struggle with changing but eventually after a lot of coaxing I changed and was glad I did.
