Atrial and Ventricle Dilation.

Good afternoon,

I have Stage 4 Prostate Cancer and, on a recent CT scan (Thorax, Abdomen and Pelvis with contrast), an entry said:- "Left atrial dilation with a AP dimension of approx 42mm and features of biventricular dilation are noted". Neither of these have ever been referred to in previous scans and I must assume this has happened over the past year.

My Oncologist is organising an Echocardiogram, but I suspect it may be some time before I get one. I am also awaiting the results of a 24 hour ECG. I'm one of those people who like to know everything about what is going on so, of course, I have been very active on Google. Wouldn't it be great if Doctors, Consultants and Lawyers used words we could all understand?

Forget the cancer bit, but I would appreciate hearing from anybody who has been in the position I am now, and what came next.

I have not been in the position you have been in but having had 3 heart attacks and then Bypass operation and all the tests waiting for the results I know how that feels

I imagine Google will be telling you quite a few things I wonder how many though will actually relate to you once you get the results

I had to reply to you with everything that you are going through I admire how you are dealing with everything you must have a very strong nature unlike me

There are many members with so much knowledge that when they log on I am sure will have some advice for you

Hi BK283 heart attacks and a bypass is certainly a challenge, but you came through it OK so a big salute to you from me.

I used to be in logistics so the "plan for the worst, hope for the best" has always been my modus operandi. I certainly wouldn't recommend Google for those of a nervous disposition or an overactive imagination though. I have found a wealth of useful information, and the thing that has impressed me most is how complicated and wonderful the human body is.

I am obviously not sure how serious my heart condition is, but my favourite saying is "it is what it is" a phrase which is much used, but one that is also very relevant. Time will tell - there's another one. The only thing I can say with any certainty about life is that none of us are going to get out of this alive.
