Cough associated with heart

Does anyone know if a cough with a lot of white phlegm is associated with heart conditions. My husband, awaiting a decision on treatment for a blocked artery has a dreadful cough to the point of being sick. Is there anything he can do to help this? He sleeps sitting up but I think it is getting worse. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm no expert but my advice would be to at least phone 111, ask to speak to a trained paramedic/doctor and tell them of your concerns.The fact that the sputum is white/clear would suggest its not necessarily an infection, or it would more likely be brown/yellow or even green.

Please don't leave it, get professional advice.

Coughing up white frothy phlegm was one of my main symptoms before dx. I was originally sent to the hospital as the doc thought I may have PE.

Thanks for that, I guessed it was to do with his heart attack and hopefully once he's treated this will subside. The coughing is quite exhausting for him.

Not that I have heard of personally, it may just be coincidental.

However if it is medical advice you need you are better off ringing 111 and ask those who know.
