It depends on your local Hospital Trust, which hospital you are having it done, and the urgency of your case. My advice is be pro-active in finding out about your situation, so talk to 'appointments' or the cardiology medical secretary at your hospital.
Pre-pandemic I had a near four month wait. I am still waiting for my 2020 one. A friend has been waiting longer than me.
I've had several in the last 3 years, and the waiting times were between 10 days and 11 weeks. The shortest wait was when I was referred by my consultant to an electrocardiologist at the heart centre, the longest was when I was first referred to cardiology at my local hospital. Appointments are a bit hit and miss at the moment, but no harm in ringing the cardiology clinic and asking if they can give you some idea.
3 days after I was first admitted. 14 months after my pacemaker was fitted. Depends where you are, the plague levels, and how urgent it is.
2 months and that was the NHS using a private company when i got there 4 rooms only 2 people so not sure why the wait.If you are really worried and can afford it its not that much private around 140 pounds i heard them quote someone over the phone and next day.
Hello ,I was told approx yearly from HA for echo ..had echo at hosp after event in 20,then for some reason Jan 21,then I heard nothing early Jan so emailed cardiologist secretary and had echo in march .
I would suggest contacting your cardiologists secretary for appt.if your concerned.
My husband was due to have one 6 weeks after his discharge after his sudden STEMI due to blocked LAD at junction with the circumflex February 2021, still waiting! Really seems to depend on where you are and whether you’re considered an urgent case. He is v lucky to be alive, is under a different county cardiac failure team, but even they don’t seem able to get his echo sorted where he was initially treated in our local Heart Institute
Hi. I waited 10 months for my first one. I’m in the north east and there’s a backlog. I think it very much depends on where you live.
I have been told by hospital that mine is going to be 10 months but they say that is because it is routine rather than urgent.
I have been referred for one and I have been told there is a 30 week wait. That's in Lancashire.
I've just had a stress echocardiogram today. I was originally referred on 1st March by my consultant who said it woukd take 4 to 6 weeks. I hadn't heard anything so called on tuesday this week to be told my appointment would probably be in May. I said I'd be happy to take a cancellation. They called on wednesday and I had it today. So, I'd recommend doing that!
Hi 5 and half weeks from angiogram but I think I got a cancellation as they called me out of the blue. I did leave message for cardiologist just to check he had referred me like he said he would! Doubt the two are connected though. Cardiologist had previously gave no timescale as Said could be a while. So that makes me think I got a cancellation.
When I last had one at GP practice (pre pandemic)it was within days . And I know someone else who lives in the same city who had one the same day of seeing her GP , but at a different practice a few months ago . She’s now (roughly) four months into an urgent referral to cardiology for a holter monitor though .It seems to be if you have a GP practice who doECG’s on site, very quick but if it’s a hospital referral it tends to take much longer .
