Just had a letter from my cardiologist after an echoscan to say my EF has improved from 20% to >60%! I was told this couldn't happen. I just hope this means I can cut down on the meds.

I very much doubt it, the meds are a contributing factor as to why it as increased and probably you will need them to stay at this level. My EF levels went up from 15-20 to 55, but the meds have to stay to maintain these levels, I like yourself do not want to take any meds , but sometimes there’s no other solution. Thanks for that. Obs. I won't change meds without consulting the doc.

Sometimes the meds can hep you get there, but once there you may find they will reduce some. Fingers crossed for you.

What an incredible improvement from 15-20 to 55. In my case over last 21 years it went down from 70 to now 40 -55. Apart from the medication, there may be some other factors that responsible for that. However readings are just a guide. Your subjective feelings for example a general sense of well being, increased exercise tolerance particularly walking up gradient, better quality of sleep. Just wanted what medication you are taking. However, it's your body, the clinician can only guide you. Overall, so good to know. Regards. Nil

Hi nil. Are you taking Entresto as well? Thank you.

That’s great news, and I am sure all contribute to how much better, hopefully you feel. I too hope it means the meds can be reduced, but as you say that’s up to the doctor. Take care, and great news for you, long may it continue! Judi

Fabulous news well done! 👍😊

That’s incredible. Great news. I agree it will be a mixture of things contributing to this. Mine went from 40 to 55/60 and I also hoped I could reduce meds. Unfortunately not - cardiologist said they were main reason for improvement. In fact, I’ve ended up with increased doses and only dropped one 😳 but I’m still here 🤣

Thanks for that. I was hoping I wouldn't rattle as much, as I'm already on the max dose for most of them.

Indeed, and with an ef of 55/60. Splendid.

Oh that’s hard. Maybe they will be able to at least reduce your doses - different circumstances different patient etc. I really hope so

That’s an amazing improvement well done

Dear RufusScamp

That's amazing! That gives me hope as my ef is 20. Thank goodness for all the medication that's available. Stay well!

Mine was 20%, and the same a year later. I've had a pacemaker and been switched onto Entresto. Another year later, and a good result. I'm not sure which has helped most, but I am very grateful to all those involved. I hope you get a similar outcome.

Thank you! I can't have a pacemaker so I rely on meds and a healthy life style. Oh, and a positive attitude! 😉

Thank you for the positive post. Great news for you and it gives great hope for the likes of me😀.

My cardiologist said to me you will be on them for life, Didn't bother me one bit its a small price for the benefit they are bringing. (I don't know what exact difference they have made as awaiting a scan, however I know they are working).

Amazing. Congratulations. Mine has increased from 41% to 52%, why were you told that this could not happen?

I was told there night be a slight improvement. It seems to be the new Entresto drug that has done it. Whatever, we are delighted anyway!

in reply toRufusScamp

Entresto was also the one that improved symptoms for me

Yes the meds may have improved them but also i do believe the body and heart can bounce back to a improved level if the cause of heart was maybe say a virus or drug abuse. I think the typical heart failure over time is alot harder to recover than a short virus that wiped you out. My ef rate bounced back from 12% (death bed) to 40%+. Cause of heart failure was unknown but they pointed to maybe a virus. Also happened in December 2019 just before coivd was officially announced in the UK. Whole town had this virus with many getting pnemonia.
