Good news

I had a heart 'episode' on the 14th June. Rushed to hospital in an ambulance, treated in resus ( like Casualty ) a week in hospital, angioplasty, scan and MRI scan, 2 more overnight stays when I felt strange and finally confirmation that it was a heart attack. I've done cardiac rehab and today went to see my consultant to be told there was no lasting damage to my heart function and that I didn't have to see him again.

The point of this post is to say at every stage of my 'journey' I have been treated with compassion, efficiency and professionally by everyone. I've felt humble and cared for - so Thankyou NHS, BOC Cardiac rehab, my family and BHF for looking after me and providing all the help and information I needed.

I'm very sorry to hear you've had a heart attack but such great news that you have no lasting damage. We really are very lucky to have the NHS. I can also say that since my husbands diagnosis of heart failure we have had nothing but support from his cardiologist, GP and nurse, who was partially funded by the BHF, he has now been discharged from the nurses care. My best wishes for your continued recovery & good health for the future.

We do get messages with quite a lot of criticism, from people unhappy with the NHS service they get, or the attitudes etc, or the fact they cannot be ‘mended’ . Of course there are glitches, but I am personally amazed and so grateful at the day after day compassion and care that I’ve had, for the last ten years and I loved your unhesitatingly praise!

I had something similar. Woke at 2.15 one morning 6 months ago not feeling right. Rang 111 and a long story short: by 7.00 I'd had a stent fitted and was on the ward. Three days later was home. Awesome from our great NHS

Sorry to hear you had a heart attack. You must have been over the moon to hear the words "no lasting damaage". You're in a very exclusive club.

Like you, the care and support I've had from the NHS, the people at cardio rehab and my HF nurse has been outstanding, I'm grateful that we have such a service

I cannot praise the NHS highly enough, from paramedics to consultants and various ward staff who have helped me on my journey through diagnosis and now into treatment. I am writing this from a ward whilst waiting to have an ICD fitted after nearly 4 years of investigations and many procedures and cannot put into words my gratitude for the utter professionalism, kindness and support I have received.
