I’ve got a 8mm lung nodule that was discovered a couple of weeks ago . The lung doctor told me that she would put me in for a PET scan which I had a week ago which was only a week after being diagnosed with the nodule I also had a lung function test on Monday .The Scan was a half body one which took about 25 mins.I got a phone call yesterday to come in for a face to face appointment on Friday,I’m worried sick now because everything points to them finding something more sinister.I’ve got no symptoms of anything bad like breathless, coughing or coughing up blood nothing like that .Im worried sick thinking about what it could be they want to see me for.

Worried sick
Your symptoms are stress and worry even if no respiratory symptoms. You will know the results in 48 hours. All the tests have been carried out quickly so no hanging around there but that in itself has added to your concerns. Is there anyone at home, do you drive or able to get out for lunch or walk on beach somewhere, something to distract for a while rather than going over worse case scenario again and again. Or, ring and ask to speak to Dr urgently regarding this. I’m sorry I have no answers for you but here for you and please let us know how you get on . Take care 💐x
Lincolnimo, I'm going to reply to you just so it's another human voice talking to you. I know what it is like, waiting with uncertainty for what news is to come. Many readers here will know of that feeling. Many have been through it and are still alive enjoying life. Sometimes in life we have to take a new direction, yet we are afraid of the unknown. But a new direction may well ensure that we can live with a better understanding of our bodies. We can learn to manage ourselves better. We can promote ourselves from being the office worker to the office manager. We can spend our time better.
So right now it's cup of tea and a biscuit time. Take a short walk outside your house, especially if it's sunny. Do a little job in the kitchen or garden. Tell your mind to focus on some holiday memories, and take some deep breaths in. We are stronger than we think.
Please post again with how things are in a few days time. There are some truly wonderful people on this forum. All are heroes and you will be one of them. ♥️
My sister was in the same predicament as you about 6 years ago. She went into Guys Hospital in London. They removed the nodule and it was sent for immediate testing while they all waited. Hers was a cancer and so they removed a small part of her lung.
I can tell that that there is nothing wrong with her now and she does long distance walking. Try and think positively, after all it may not be a cancer and if it is, it's been caught at a very early stage.
She had been a smoker for many years in her younger days and said that's why she thought she had the problem. Her attitude was, she'd smoked, knew the dangers and the cancer was the result.
Please let us know how you get on.

Just had the worse news possible yesterday from the meeting with consultant. She told me I had colon cancer and cancer in my lower back hence the back pain last 6/7 weeks. Also if it couldn’t get any worse I’ve got secondary on my lungs .The next thing is having a biopsy to see what treatment I can have things don’t look good .I’m so scared what the outcome will be .
Oh bless you what shocking news. Feel for you and always here if you want to chat on PM any time.
Things don’t look promising but I’ll try to beat it .
That's the spirit.
Would love to no what everyone thinks do you think it can be beaten .The weird thing I haven’t got any symptoms apart from a bad back I’ve had no coughing, sickness or anything and on New Year’s Day my bloods were all normal very strange
I have a friend who had bowel cancer and it was cut out, she's fine now and has been for years. Then my sister, who had the nodule cut out. I think they took a quarter of her lung, but as I said she can walk long distances now. Her cancer was discovered after having pneumonia and a heart scan. She had no other symptoms. The back cancer I know nothing about whatsoever. Staying positive will see you through. The power of the mind is amazing!
My OH was diagnosed with a 6mm nodule in one lung, scanned and a fairly fast follow up to discuss the findings. That was a few years ago, it's still there and still small. The Dr seemed quite unconcerned by it tbh and explained its more common than we realise.
I guess it's the fear of the unknown when we can't see it, whereas if it was a lump on the outside, we wouldn't be quite so worried.
Take care.
