Lung nodules worried sick

I had a routine Ct scan on my aortic root on New Year’s Day .I got a phone call to come to the hospital to go over the findings .I was in shock when they told me they had found a 7mm nodule on my lung I’m worried sick because I’ve lost a bit of appetite and I’ve got back pain the doctors don’t seem to unduly worried because all my bloods have come back normal .Then today they have asked me to go up for a Ecg on my heart which I find a bit strange why do they want a ecg of my heart .My heads all over the place with worry .

Bless ya. It is worrying to hear of nodules being found. But…blood results are normal and drs not unduly worried. Heart and lungs are not only close physiologically but work together closely. An ECG is just another part of the jigsaw like the blood tests. They have you under review and although you need answers and reassurance they are sorting you but that doesn’t stop your worrying. Make sure you write a list of all your questions/symptoms/worries as we all know they go flying out the window when the dr says do you have any questions. My OH had scans on her lungs due to several infections, caused by silent aspiration. She has COPD too.The scans showed a 6mm nodule on one lung.

She's had a couple more scans since it was found and it's still the same so there's no concern about it.

The consultant said it's more common than we imagine and nothing to worry about.

When my fiancé had his first diagnostic CT scan for his heart issues, they also found a 5mm nodule in his lung.

He panicked (as at the time he was a very heavy smoker) and the hospital seemed slightly worried too and arranged a CT PETscan to check for any metabolic activity.

The PET scan showed it was inactive and likely benign, but it was an incredibly worrying time.

He’s had it xrayed a couple of times since and it hasn’t grown or changed shape etc so they seem quite happy with that.

The hospital did say that lung nodules are surprisingly common and can be caused by many things such as previous infections etc.

Good morningI had the same last year they found five nodules on my lungs, I was told to leave it a year then have another ct scan to see if any change, I had the second ct scan last week just over a years since findings I am now waiting for results. My gp don’t think there is anything of concern really. At least they are checking you out well it’s good they are on the case.

Why did they leave it a year before giving you a scan ?

To see if they have grown over a year, if I think about it time goes very slow so I try not to dwell on it to much. Mine were found while having a ct scan on my heart at Colchester hospital in Essex. I ended up in Basildon cardiac centre tFor a Coronary angiogram due to a blocked LAD but ended up being treated for angina.

I’ve heard from the hospital today they want me to go up for a lung test the appointment is in a weeks time.I’m worried because I’ve got back pain and I’ve lost my appetite I’m eating but not a lot.Worried in case it something more serious I was even thinking about paying private for a more in depth blood test .
