Advice with painful legs

Morning all 😊 on a very good note I’m doing very well at the moment, heart beat seems to have settled dare I say it , I’ve been very proactive exercise and diet wise , got an appointment with consultant Monday with results of scans etc.

My niggle at the moment is my legs from knees down ache and tingle like heck all night long , I’ve been wearing the very alluring support socks during the day , my blood pressure is on average a bit high and I’m working on bringing it down and I will mention it to the consultant but I wondered if anyone with similar had any good tips please 😊

Hi Hazel. It does sound like restless leg syndrome. I used to get nasty lower leg cramps until someone told me to drink either soda or tonic water. I’m not a fan but I found some flavoured ones in Aldi. Lemon and lime was my fav. I gave it a go and the cramps miraculously stopped. Hope this is of some use to you.

If it doesn’t work then maybe a trip to your telephone to see - ooops - speak with a doctor.

Tonic water contains quinine and can be harmful to the heart. health.harvard.edu/newslett...

Hi , I think the amount in tonic water is pretty small and I won’t be drinking it excessively but I’ll take your advice onboard and be careful thankyou

Morning 😊 thanks that’s a good idea I’ll leave the gin out and go for the tonic 😊

If you are worried about the quinine try the soda water instead - both worked for me. I read yesterday that quinine used to be prescribed for restless legs but I think the dose probably was higher then a glass of tonic water!

Just found this answer to the question - health.harvard.edu/newslett...

Hi Hazel the tonic water and the alluring compression socks work for me. Like you say a glass or two isn't over doing it especially with no gin 😜.

I had this during pregnancy. Guess what my craving was? Yep tonic water. Drank it daily and realised problem had passed. My son is a bit odd but I blame it on his dad, not the quinine 😂
