Dear Lovenow54
It certainly is safe for me to fly, because I asked my cardiology team.
There is no one on here who can say if its safe for you.
As a ball park general statement, then yes it is safe to fly after a heart by pass.
It must surely depend on how you are on the medication, I still feel a little weak { but I'm getting there } to fly personally.
Remember if you get the green light which I’m sure after a year you will, that you need new insurance to cover you.
I hope it goes ahead for you……..thinking of somewhere nice?
Thanks Blue1958. Just been quite down lately
I know how you feel, I am someone who loves travel and I haven't been on holiday (abroad) since 2019. I suffer with psoriasis and the sun is the only thing that clears it up so I really miss having some sun. I have saved some money during lock down and there are 2 big holidays that are on my bucket list and I really hope I manage to do them before I have to stop going!
Just speak to the GP and get the all clear and just go somewhere like Minorca or Majorca initially as they are relatively short flights.
Sorry to hear that, then a holiday is what you need and deserve, and if these feeling persist please contact someone, do not suffer alone. You are in my thoughts.
You will need to speak to your doctor about this as you need to know the cause of the pain.
The length of time after a bypass is fine but as you are still in pain something may be wrong and you will find you will struggle with insurance.
You may well be fit to fly but not sure whether you will be able to get insurance to cover you.
You should ask your GP for their OK. But after one year unless you have ongoing heart problems I would think no problem. Regarding insurance I have with staysure and they are highly recommended by traveler's with many medical conditions I found them very reasonable one year unlimited travel (not including USA) £280 for myself and my wife. This covers me for my golfing trip to turkey 🇹🇷. Just be honest with them and no problems getting a quote. Good luck
Hi I flew 4 mths after my bypass but always good to check with your cardiologist or GP to make sure they happy.
I had my bypass in Nov 19 and have travelled 3 times to Scotland to see my daughter . I feel far safer flying than shopping in.Supermarkets because the airline we used was well regimented and had a no nonsense policy . The first time I travelled the seating was well distanced. Yes go ahead but wear a mask everywhere , especially in the airport and keep washing your hands .
Hi I had a transplant 18months ago and I have flown three times the first one was just domestic a year after surgery and then to Majorca and Alicante all were absolutely fine. I made sure I had adequate travel insurance. I hope you have a great holiday there is nothing like sunshine to make us feel better and that is severely lacking up here in Scotland take care char
Hi.I had a quadruple bypass in the March and flew to Spain in the October.
Not very far admittedly but I was fine, perhaps just run it past your Cardiologist.
