Does anyone know if you should get numb legs and bad breathing when you have two leaky heart valves mitral and aortic?

Hello Daughter78 Welcome to the forum, didn’t have the numb legs but certainly had breathing problems before my Aortic valve replaced.

Walking up the stairs was difficult, as was slight incline outside.

Are you waiting for surgery? Are you on any medication to help? There is nothing in your bio.

Remember you are now a member of the Hearties family and if you have any questions just post and someone will be along to try and help you. We are here to listen or lend a shoulder to lean on if that’s what you need. There are so many of us that have been where you are at the moment.

Best wishes Pauline

Hi Pauline

It’s my mother. She’s a difficult patient. Had lung cancer removed, 2 time kidney transplant,

COPD with other issues. She is on apixban 2.5mg 2x day for blood clots. She was on blood thinners for a year but now stopped and on those instead. She can only walk around 100 metres on a good day. It’s her legs we worry about as it’s disabling her more and more, they are cold and she’s been told it’s compression but we are doing everything for that and they don’t seem to improve.

No we haven’t heard anything about surgery. The last Dr said they will look into intervention and then booked a follow up for August!?? We are considering ringing the GP and seeing if we can get through that way again as the hospital is sending us around in circles. Her legs have been looked by the hospital and found nothing else majorly wrong which makes me believe it’s circulation??

Thank you for your reply

It certainly sounds like circulation though I am no medic. If she as been seen at the hospital didn’t they say what was wrong with her legs?Your Mother as really been through the such a lot, and being difficult can be understandable, though that doesn’t help you.

Try getting your GP involved, I do know appointments are running behind. I haven’t had an echocardiogram done since the pandemic hit, I am supposed to have one yearly as I have a tissue replacement valve, had a letter last June to say I have an echocardiogram booked for 1st June 2022, and an appointment with my cardiologist for my 5 year review since my surgery by then it will be almost 6 years and the appointment was 12 months time. Afraid we are all struggling.

I know it must be terribly worrying for you, as I said try speaking to her GP, you never know the other thing is contact the Doctor you last saw at the hospital secretary and say you would like to go on the list if there is a cancellation they would phone you.

I hope you can get some answers for her soon.

Pauline
