Gastrocardiac Syndrome

Thanks to confirmation from Dr. Gupta I know I have a form of Gastrocardiac Syndrome and this may be more common than you think. Indeed it might explain some of the problems/symptoms many of you people have,

I will be begin by letting the good Doctor explain what it is. youtube.com/watch?v=zt4Cw-V....

After my HA and stenting I used to get quite stressed when I got heart pain, not dissimilar to my original HA, only to be told "there is nothing wrong with you".

So my research began, to find out what was happening to me and and what i was doing wrong.

1. I changed my diet to one that excluded 99% of all processed food, with lowish carbs, only olive oil and virtually no sugar. Eg, my wife makes strawberry jam with only 20% (raw) sugar, it looks a little different, tastes a little sour but is great on a marg-free croissant. Oh and it goes off quite quickly

2. I began drinking as much water as I could and I still find that hard work.

3. I started daily exercises, first with the BHF 10 minute workout, then with 3kg dumbells, then bought a treadmill and put some tunes on. With knee joint problems I bought 1.5kg ankle weights and work out sitting down watching TV. My daughter emails any covid rule changes and that's it. Stress is the 2nd biggest danger for heart patients, next to obesity and that comes from eating processed foods..

4. In just over 2 years I have dropped 3 of my 5 tablets, leaving a statin and aspirin..the dreaded addictive benzos are gone at last.

5. Where I am I cannot get UK TV and being unable to watch the daily scaremonger, I feel a lot more relaxed.

6. Now that brings me on the main change, learning about the psychology of living with CVD, which in itself will help with the healing process. You learn to change your behaviour, just like you would learn to play a musical instrument, or Karate, practice, parctice until it becaome a second nature. You have an incident and deal with it, I still have a reminder sheet on the wall of 6 things I can do to combat the issue I have deal with.

I hope some of this helps others.. Be well.

Hi Dave, excellent post. Just wondered if it was your GP or Carddiologist who sanctioned you coming off 3 pills, and if you dot mind my asking, what were they?

My Cariologist took me off my blood thinners after a year, I requested to drop the PPIs as there were ineffective for my Gastrocardiac Syndrome which led to no change and I finally kicked the benzos after 18 months of weaning. I still take an odd one if I really cant sleep.

My GP tried to get me on betablockers after 2 years, lying about the side effects and Dr. Gupta told me this was rediculous.

No, I live overseas and had online consultations, the first was 40 minutes, the 2nd 20 minutes and had all my questions ready and a scribble pad to make notes. He is really easy to talk to and explains everything so well.
