I was diagnosed with AF two months ago but still getting chest pains.
My consultant has told me to stop taking bisoprolol this week so I can do a 14 day heart Zio monitor next week. Problem is I am feeling giddy and my resting HR has increased to 90 already after only missing two days. I can't feel any palpitations. Is this ok? What should I do? I'm still getting mild chest pains if I do anything. Please help!

then keep an eye on it, below 100 bpm is classed as normal, so even though 'your' normal is lower it is still within the normal range, I would still call your GP/Consultant because of you feeling giddy.
Not sure why he would ask for you to get off the medication especially for that long period. A resting heart rate of 90 bpm seems a little high to me. I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and permanent atrial flutter and I take 10 mg of bisoporol daily as well as three different medication to control the rhythm and rate. But I honesty would rather be put on meds to reduce the risk of any heart complication. So I’m willing to go through the side effects
I'm no doctor, but when I started Bisoprolol, I remember that my heart rate had decreased the very next day and it didn't go down any further on subsequent days, so it might be that when you come off it, your heart rate will go up very quickly and then stabilise within a day or two.
Thanks I think that's what's happening. It's going all over the place for a few days until it stabilized. Hopefully that's all it is. Feeling better today.
Bisoprolol is known to be tricky to reduce and come off, sometimes resulting in a kind of rebound of symptoms whilst coming off it (heart rate up etc). It may be helpful to slowly reduce it in such a way your heart barely notices the tiny reductions in doseage. If you are having issues, I would think your cardiologist should advise you. You will also find a lot of info from others' experiences with Bisoprolol on this site if you search 'bisoprolol'. Hope you find a way through.
