I requested a CT Angiogram and NHS consultant agreed to arrange this. Been waiting 2 months for it on NHS. Anyone any idea if the wait time at the moment?
No Private Health Insurance - anyone recently paid privately and what was the cost? Plus suggestions of centres to go to? Spire Hospital seems expensive?
nsmy Thanks - appreciate your help. Ken

Your place in the queue for your angiogram will be determined by whether you are classed as routine or urgent, and what sort of pressure your NHS Trust angiogram facilities are under. If it's any help I was put on the waiting list for an NHS angiogram in early April this year, was told it would be about a two months but eventually had it last month, i.e. six months on. To be fair the angio suite where I had mine done seemed to be like a conveyor belt with patient to-ings and fro-ings, and they are also working 7 days a week, well at least until the nurses go on strike.
As far as a private angiogram you may need a GP referral to get that done. I suggest you talk to a local private health care provider in your area, Spire or Nuffield perhaps, to find out out more including a quote.
Good morning, I am waiting for a CT angiogram as a check now my medication has balanced. My pacemaker was fitted in March but have had a few issues finding the right tablets and levels for Bisoprol. I have been told it is about 3 months waiting time as I am non urgent. I have my next pacing clinic in March. The department I visit is always incredibly busy but I am able to ring them directly or my cardiologist’s secretary and they have always been very helpful with appointments and honesty about waiting times. Hope this helps.
that’s excellent my cardio department never answers the phone or returns messages tne cardio secretary is exactly the same the service is shocking over this summer
That makes me doubly fortunate then. My cardiologist said he would make me a new woman and he has. I worship the ground he walks on! But I also know I am incredibly lucky as it is a huge lottery out there. Good luck moving forward.
I had a private CT angio at a Spire hospital in 2019. It was paid for by Benenden health as I am member. My cardiologist who works out of the same hospital said the results of the scan were 'inconclusive' The contrast dye and scan were done by non doctor and may have been a poor scan - so I had to wait for a full scan anyway. I ended up having three stents.. I think the cost then was getting on for £900.
I also paid privately (Spire - St Anthony's) while waiting to see a NHS Cardiologist. Paid for an echogram and 2 appts, but couldn't afford the angiogram £1,700. I was told it would be a 6 month wait on NHS (St Georges Hosp), got a March 2023 date, told them I wasn't available and they gave me Jan 23rd 2023 (4.5 mth wait).
Hi, I had ct angiogram done at spire in edinburgh, was done within 3 days of requesting and cost £1050
I waited around 3 months for my CT Angiogram its now been 4 weeks since and I still don't have my results back but the secretary said she will chase it up. I have a implant loop recorder and was told I may need a pacemaker depending on results etc. Hope you get sorted out soon.
