Myocarditis and racing heart

Im 3 month in recovering from myocarditis and periocarditis. Taking colcherine and ibuprofen but still not recovered. Having palpitations, racing heart and chest pain a few times a week and zero energy. I’m confused as to how normal this can be in recovery or if there’s something else going on. Right before all of this started (about 3 months) I was prescribed a hormonal birth control pill to control heavy periods and bad anemia. I’m wondering if I should be taking these with all of this going on? I am 46. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Morning Mills, I'm about a month following diagnosis of myocarditis, myocardial oedema and a septal aneurysm, and same meds as you but with omeprazol too. I was also expecting some improvement but also have peculiar heart beats - one minute fluttering the next a sudden strong beat that takes my breath away, daily chest and back pain, breathless, lightheaded and fatigue, although not sleeping well🙁I was told 6 months + recovery and the lovely people on here have shared their experiences and for some it's taken longer and recurred. So it seems the symptoms are 'normal' for our condition and recovery time is how long it takes...

I struggle with that uncertainty tbh, but just trying to rest, and listen to my body😊

I would contact your gp for advice on the birth control. Hope you're feeling well again soon ❤

Thanks for your post!! I saw cardiologist today and my ECG is improving which is good. How you describe your heart beats is exactly the same as mine! Identical. I have to do another MRI in the next few days so let’s see. Are you signed off work? 6 months sounds crazy to me but then again I’m at 3 months and I’m defiantly not right.

I'm seeing a Cardiologist next week. Fully expecting another MRI I think it's the only reliable way to assess whether the inflammation has reduced🤔Yes I'm off work until at least mid January, that will be about 3 months, I have read posts on here though where people have been off for 9 months!

I’m really curious to see MRI results. I can’t imagine all of the inflammation is gone as I’m still having pain. Just don’t know how much longer this will go on! And I’m supposed to travel transatlantic for the holidays. Good luck with your MRI.
