I have days where I feel freezing and just can’t get warm. Is this normal for someone post open heart surgery

Randomly feel cold - 18 months on from open heart surgery

Hi Sue, I've just bought myself an electrically heated throw. Apparently it only costs 1p for an evenings use. Can't wait for it to arrive!
It may also be an idea to get your thyroid checked, with a blood test, as feeling cold can be a symptom of an underactive one.

Hi Sue...I have the same problem since my bypass nearly 6 months ago. I get really cold from the early evening and sometimes it's hard to warm up. I do have an under active thyroid which I've had for years and am on medication for that. Wondering if it's the meds I'm on. I too have a heated throw and it really does help.
Hi Sue, hubby suffered from extreme coldness following HA, found out it was Bisoprolol causing the problem. Change of meds and he is fine.
Hi - thanks for that. Did the extreme coldness happen intermittently and cause him to go clammy.
Sue, he was cold all the time. Had to buy fingerless gloves to wear indoors along with thermal clothing. Our heating bills were sky high. I managed to buy heated throws in a sale but didn’t use them very much. It was a relief when GP agreed to switch his drugs. Hope you get sorted soon.
Hi Suebedoo, being from Yorkshire I didn't mind the cold but after my open heart surgery I hate it. Really feel it across my chest and can struggle to get warmed up.
I too feel the cold a lot more than I ever used to I was the idiot in a T-shirt in December as it never bothered me after a stent now it does I put it down to the blood thinners I am on 😀 missis always say’s cars too hot for her lol
Just replying to add that I also feel the cold a lot more after the surgery, but nothing an extra jumper in my case won’t solve. [plus a hairy dog that gets more cuddles than he likes at the moment]I wish you warmth
